VTC Honors Convocation Set for April 11th at 6pm

Randolph Center, VT - On Thursday, April 11th at 6pm Vermont Technical College will hold their Annual Honors Convocation. This recognizes a variety of Vermont Tech students and student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in their academic and co-curricular pursuits.

Last year the Athlete of the Year awards were given to Seniors Kevin Carr of Men's Basketball and Abigail Senesac of Women's Soccer. Senesac also garnered the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year award, while Caleb Young of the Golf team grabbed that honor for the men.

In addition to the male and female Athletes of the Year and Scholar Athletes, the program will also recognize VTC Yankee Small College Conference All-Conference recipients, as well as United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-Americans and Academic All-Americans.

Finally, in terms of honors for athletics, there will be two special awards presented. The Angus Murray Memorial Award is presented to the individual who demonstrated selfless dedication to the Vermont Tech athletic program. Last year's recipient was Abigail Fusco, a four-year two-sport athlete in Women's Basketball and Softball.

The Edward F. Kibby Memorial Award is presented to the athlete who has displayed the most outstanding sportsmanship throughout the year, including having a 3.0 GPA. Ramsey Allen of Men's Soccer took home the award for the 2011/12 academic year.

The event will take place in Judd Gymnasium.
