Track & Field records keep falling
Vermont Tech Men and Women track teams competed at Albany New York at the University of Albany Spring Classic Saturday. This was the first time Vermont Tech has competed at a D1 school. Competition was great with schools like University of Albany and University of Hartford in the lineup.
This years throws team is coached by George Olson and is a strong team. On the Women's side Angela Lazzaro set 2 new Vermont Tech all time best records in the Javelin Angela threw 68'.7 to shatter the old record set by Sophie Provost (64') in 2019. Angela also set a new standard in the shot put with a toss of 19.16' breaking the record held by Sophie at 18.7' also set in 2019.
On the Men's side Johnny Johnson threw 27.58 M which gave him a 4th place finish in the Javelin. Christopher Lucas finished 8th with his 25.1 M throw in the Discus and 8th place in the shot with his 9.42M throw.
Also for the Men Vermont Tech Mens 4x100m team finished 2nd of 4 teams with a 48.81 time, just shy of the school record of 46.6. Johnny Johnson, Paul Banta, Rupesh Gurung and Dominick Presendieu will try to meet that in next weeks' USCAA National meet also at Albany.
Paul Banta led the Mens running team with 2 new school records in the 100m (11.94 for 16th place) and the 200m with a 24.04 (17th breaking the College records set by himself earlier this season in the 200m and Lewis Holey (11.95) in 2017.
Johnny Johnson ran a personal best in the 100m (12.45) and 200m (27.01) and Dominick Presendieu finshed 19th in the 100m at 12.52
Next week Vermont Tech travels to Albany again to wrap up the season for the USCAA National Invitational Meet.
