Randolph Center, VT – The Vermont Tech women's basketball team was unable to overcome the scoring power of U Maine Augusta, falling 76-41, in Sunday's YSCC conference match up.
Junior Paige Wells led the green knights with 12 points, finishing a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line and grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Sophomore Serena Reynolds had a career-high of 12 points as well as grabbing 6 rebounds for the Green Knights.
UMA (8-7 Overall and 4-3 YSCC) jumped to an early lead but jump shots from Freshmen Hallie Burkart and Sophomore Emily Waite kept Vermont Tech (6-8 Overall and 4-4 YSCC) close in the early going. Down by three 13-10, at the 12:41 mark in the first half, UMA's Jennifer Lola hit a jump shot and then the UMA Moose started to pull away with the game.
Four UMA players hit double figures in points, but Arreonte Lee lead the Moose with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and an impressive 11 assists while Lola had 23 points and 7 rebounds for UMA.
Vermont Tech is back in action on Thursday, January 23 vs YSCC opponent NHTI at 5:30pm.
