Randolph,Vermont- On Saturday, the Vermont Tech Men's Basketbal team suffered its first defeat in conference play losing to Southern Maine Community College 76-65.
Vermont Tech got off to a great start taking a 20-9 lead. Jeremiah Shaw started out on fire scoring 13 of Vermont Tech's first 20 points. After a timeout SMCC went on a 8-0 run to cut the lead to 3. The two teams went back and before Southern Maine took the lead with under 3 minutes to go in the half. They would never relinquish the lead.
Clay Hardy had a big night for the Seawolves scoring 24 points on 8-14 shooting. Pedro Fonseca added 17 hitting 5 of 10 from behind the arc.
Shaw who leads the YSCC in scoring finished with 21 points. Chance Cole added 18 points for the Knights and also pulled down 8 rebounds.
VTC is moves to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in YSCC. The Knights continue conference play hosting NHTI on Wednesday November 20th at 6pm.
