Knights go to work on Alumni Weekend
Vermont Tech 7, Hampshire College 1
The Knights delivered on Saturday against Hampshire College as they played to a 7-1 victory. Excited that it was Alumni weekend the Knights started the game on all cylinder when Phillip Hepburn took a pass out of the midfield and drippled passed two Hampshire defenders and shooting a low shot past Hampshire Goalkeeper giving the Knights a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the match.
The Knights would out play their opponent much of the first half but could not find another goal after much of the play forced Hampshire to defend. In the 37th minute Matthew Brien would give the Knights their second goal when he won the ball of the defender deep in Hampshire 18 and put a quick shot near post past Hampshire goalkeeper Felix Hunt. The Knights took a 2-0 lead into half.
The Knights started the 2nd half a little slow but were able to come on quick starting in the 57th minute as Ali Alzamanan took a cross from Allen Wheeler and recorded his first goal of the season. Three minutes later Connor Strom would chip home another goal for the Knights when he took a through ball from Phillip Hepburn and chip it over the charging goalkeeper. Two minutes after Strom's goal Hampshire would take one back when Ryan Ellerby took a defensive turnover and shot the ball from 18 yards out that skimmed off the crossbar and found the back of the net making it a 4-1 game with 28 minutes left to play.
It would be the Knights the rest of the way as Phillip Hepburn recorded three more goals recording four on the day as the Knights roll to a 7-1 win over Hampshire College. Scott Durkee had 2 saves on 3 shots. The Knights look to continue playing well as the Host Me- Fort Kent this Thursday at 4pm.
